This page explains, in plain language, exactly what Maktabi keeps on your machine, what leaves it when you generate a document, and what is never sent anywhere at all.

1. Two zones, one clear line
Maktabi is split into a local zone and a cloud zone, and the line between them is drawn in the code, not in a policy document.
The local zone is your own computer: your workspace folders, your course files, your gradebooks, the search index the application builds for you and the activity journal. Nothing in this zone is uploaded, synchronised or backed up to us.
The cloud zone is used only when you ask for new content to be generated. It receives the pedagogical request and the anonymized extracts it needs, and it returns text. It never receives a file, a folder or a class list.

3. What happens when you generate a document
When you ask for a fiche, an exam or a report, the application prepares the request on your machine first.
Masking before the request leaves
A deterministic pre-flight step scans everything about to be sent and replaces every identifier with a neutral token, so a class list becomes a numbered roster with no names attached. The table that maps a token back to a real pupil is held in memory only, is never written to disk, and is destroyed when the session ends.
Restoring names locally
When the generated text comes back, the application puts your pupils’ real names back in on your own computer, at the moment the Word, Excel or PowerPoint file is written. The names and the generated text are only ever combined locally.

Requests are sent over an encrypted connection to the model gateway that produces the pedagogical text.
5. The activity journal
Everything the agent does on your machine is appended to a local journal so you can always answer the question “what did it actually do?”. Each entry is chained to the one before it, so a modified or deleted line is detectable.
The journal stays on your computer. It is yours to read, to keep as evidence of your own work, or to delete with the workspace.
6. Your account, your licence, your card
Creating an account requires an email address and a password. Your subscription is handled by the Algerian payment provider, which means your card details are entered on the provider’s secure page and never reach Maktabi.
7. Working offline
Because the workspace is local, most of the application keeps working with no connection at all. Reading and searching your files, consulting the question vault, recalculating grades and re-exporting documents are fully available offline. Only generating new content needs the internet.
