Built for Algerian classrooms, not translated for them
Maktabi (مكتبي) is an academic workspace that runs on the teacher’s own computer. It knows the 2G competency approach, the MEN document formats and the way an Algerian school year is actually organised.
Why we built it
Every Algerian teacher knows the same evening: the programme is clear, the lesson is in your head, and yet the fiche pédagogique, the devoir surveillé, the barème, the corrigé and the gradebook still have to be typed, formatted and checked by hand.
Generic AI assistants do not help much. They invent exercises that do not exist in the manual, they break Word equations, they write left to right when the class reads right to left, and they ask for a foreign credit card before showing anything useful.
Maktabi takes the opposite approach. It reads your own course files, follows the official annual plans and teacher guides, produces documents in the exact format your inspector expects, and keeps every student name on your machine. It weighs 35 MB, installs without an administrator, and it is paid in dinars with a card you already have.
The whole installer, not a gigabyte of bloat
Fiches, exams, cahier, gradebook, slides, calendar, batch
Primary, middle school, lycée and university
Arabic right to left, French and English
Four rules the product never breaks
Grounded, never invented
The agent works from your own files and the official programme. When an input is missing it stops and asks instead of filling the gap with something plausible, and every generated block carries a provenance badge.
Local first, by design
Student names, national student numbers and raw gradebooks stay on your computer. Anything sent for cloud generation is anonymized first, then re-hydrated locally before the file is written.
Light enough for a school PC
A 35 MB installer, no developer tools, no terminal access and no background services. It runs on the machines Algerian teachers actually own.
Algerian formats first
2G competency structure, 20 point scales in 0.25 steps, MEN Excel gradebooks, Raqmana columns, right-to-left slides and BEM and BAC standards, not a foreign template with Arabic pasted in.
One workspace, four kinds of teacher
Each profile changes the vocabulary, the document templates and the grading rules the agent applies.
Primary school
Short activity sheets, reading and writing workshops, simple oral grids and a gentle 10 point scale.
Middle school
2G competency fiches, devoirs and compositions, BEM preparation and the MEN gradebook per trimester.
Lycée
Streams and coefficients, full BAC style subjects, two synchronized variants and detailed barèmes.
University
Course handouts, TD and TP series, semester exams with corrigés and slide decks for the amphithéatre.
Our promise about student data
Privacy is not a setting you have to find. It is the way the application is built, and it is the same for every teacher on every plan.
Full names, national student numbers, scanned copies and raw gradebooks stay in your workspace folder.
Identifiers are replaced with neutral tokens before generation, and restored on your machine afterwards.
Cloud generation runs with zero retention. Your documents are never used to train a model.
Every file read, document generated and grade calculated is written to a tamper-evident local journal.
